HonestQuit Support

HonestQuit provides local quit tracking and coping support. The browser and native iOS products have separate data and features. The iOS app is in preparation for release; this page does not announce App Store availability.

Browser / PWA help

The browser product’s core quit tracking and progress are free — no account, no login, no subscription.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is my data stored?

All personal data stays in this browser’s local storage on the device you are using. There is no account, no cloud sync, and no third-party analytics or advertising tracker. See the Privacy Policy.

How do I delete my data?

Open Settings → Export, import, and erase → Erase all HonestQuit data. Type ERASE to confirm. This removes the canonical local profile and returns to setup. You can also clear site data in browser settings. Export first if you may need a copy.

How do I back up or move my data?

In Settings, choose Export JSON. HonestQuit adds a schema version and SHA-256 integrity checksum. On the destination browser, choose import, review the verified import preview, and explicitly replace the current profile. The file may contain sensitive quit information, so store and transfer it carefully.

Will my streak survive if I stop opening the app?

Usually, but not as a guarantee. Storage is local and browser-managed. Private browsing, site-data clearing, storage pressure, privacy rules, or quota failures can remove it. Request persistent storage in Settings where supported, and keep periodic exports.

Does HonestQuit use Apple Health?

No. The live web product has no Apple Health / HealthKit integration.

I had a slip. Did I lose my progress?

No. The app treats slips as part of quitting — log the slip and it adjusts your stats honestly without erasing your history or shaming you.

Is there a community?

Not in this release. Public community features are intentionally disabled until they can be launched with proper moderation and privacy protections.

iOS app help

Where is my data stored?

Version 1.0 keeps quit records locally on your iPhone, with no account, cloud sync, or public community. Browser records do not transfer into the iOS app. The browser’s JSON export/import feature is not available in the iOS app.

How do I erase my records?

Open HonestQuit Settings → Erase All HonestQuit Data and confirm. This removes the app’s local records and settings. Mindful minutes already saved to Apple Health remain there; manage them in Apple Health. Shared reports and separately managed device backups are not erased by this action.

How do I control Apple Health and reminders?

In HonestQuit Settings → Apple Health, enable or disable writing breathing minutes. The app writes mindful minutes only with your permission and does not read Health data. Revoke Health access in Apple Health or iOS Settings. Notification permission and lock-screen previews can be changed in iOS Settings; reminder preferences are also available in the app.

A save failed or my data will not open

Keep the app installed. Restart it and check available device storage. If the problem continues, contact support with your iOS version, app version, and the visible error message. Do not send private journal entries or health records. A failed save does not mean your new entry has been stored.

I had a slip. Should I restart?

Log the slip so estimates reflect what you entered. Your history remains useful. Time since your quit date is not a claim of uninterrupted abstinence, and health milestones are general education rather than a measurement of your recovery.
